Happy Birthday to us
Last weekend we celebrated our first Birthday. 12 months ago we opened our doors to welcome boys 4-17 into our academy.
As a not-for-profit organisation, our aim is to make ballet accessible to boys from 4-17. We have achieved this through the provision of a supportive, encouraging and inspiring environment in which boys can learn dance, or feel confident to come and try for the first time.
The academy aims to dispel any misconceptions associated with boys doing ballet and promote that ballet is just as much for boys as it is for girls.
We provide a setting that is appealing to boys in classes taught by experienced and qualified male teachers. We offer dance workshops during school holidays and weekends. We have also recently launched an outreach programme, which involves going into schools, clubs, organisations & community groups, delivering workshops that, in line with our vision and mission, spread the word that ballet is absolutely for boys as well as girls.
BBA are proud to be able to connect a community of like-minded boys together in dance, which is an important aspect of social connections, well being and gaining support and friendships. As part of Boys Ballet Academy, we offer social events to the boys relevant to dance, such as theatre trips, workshops with professional companies.
Since opening one year ago we have grown steadily, with boys attending from all over Sussex. And we now offer classes in boys Contemporary dance with tap dance coming soon.
Taster sessions are available free of charge, and must be booked in advance please email email@example.com to book.
